The 400 Blows (1959): Visual Style

While watching the French movie called The 400 Blows (1959) I saw several great scenes that focused on visual style. However, two scenes stood out to me the most while watching this movie.

The first scene was in the beginning of the movie. The camera does not focus in on the boy protagonist's face. Instead the camera views the boy protagonist from his backside while he is sitting  inside the classroom. In addition the camera focus on the boy protagonist character while he is putting away his pencil on the ledge of the desk. This scene is an example of establishing the shot.

The second  scene I saw that relates towards visual style is in the opening credits. This is because the camera uses low action shots. This type of shot is used  to show the visuals of the Eiffel tower as well as the other buildings shown.  Overall, this scene creates the ambiguous meanings depicted within the rest of the films visual style.
